Men are from Mars, women are from Venus- this familiar saying suggests that like many other aspects of our being, the health needs of men and the health needs of women vary considerably. Our gender determines the way in which we function, and from this we are able to identify our different nutritional needs and risk of gender specific ilness. Womens health is a fascinating interplay of internal and external influences, including the role of the reproductive hormones, and their powerful effects on a womans physical and emotional wellbeing.

The modern day woman will have many more periods in her lifetime than her forebears due to an earlier menarche, better nutrition, less pregnancies and a longer life expectancy.The average western woman can expect to menstruate from the age of twelve till about fifty years (about 400 periods!). She is likely to become pregnant two or three times and, with each, spend three to nine months breast feeding. Following her pregnancies, she can expect her cycle to remain fairly regular until she reaches menopause. As you can see women have a lot to contend with so supplementing the diet and taking herbal remedies can be benificial.
